Once, a long time ago, we got ourselves a nice car and solemnly swore never to part with it. However, age leaves its stamp on everything and, like it or not, cars get old just like people do. Now, many years later, you desperately need a new vehicle, but can’t handle the thought of parting with your old car. Sure, you may no longer want to drive it, but the very thought of it rotting on some wrecking yard is too much to handle. If there was only a way for you to sell it at the agreeable price, so that you can be sure it is still well cared for in its new home. Well, actually there is a way for you to do this. Still, you need to put some back into this effort and start with a process of rejuvenation.

Clean the Car

The first thing you need to do when selling your car is thoroughly clean it. Now, we don’t talk about the regular Sunday washing, but the thorough scrubbing of both your car’s interior, as well as its exterior. Start with scrubbing its front and back lights, plates, windshield and windows, and then proceed to the larger surfaces. Inside, be very careful and focus especially on the seats. Take out the ashtray and, if there are any other parts you can remove (like, for example, floor mats), make sure to do so. After all, it will be much easier to clean them once outside the car. Finally, don’t forget to dry the car with a cloth since you don’t want stains to start forming everywhere.

After you’re set and done, it might also be a good idea to do some extra work, like buffing the entire car and applying wax. Investing in high quality wax may give your car a superb shine, which can make it appear a decade younger. The same effect can be achieved with tire shine, but only if you manage not to overspray it. With just these few tricks, you will already raise the value of your car significantly, without making a significant investment.

Take Good Photos

The next thing you need to do is take good photographs of your car and put them on the platform you are selling it through. Sure, you can Photoshop your car to look like a brand new Jaguar F-type. Still, we’re not talking about deceiving anyone, but simply tilting the truth a bit your way. Using a nice neutral background, making the light just perfect and then working a bit on the photos may indeed make your car much more appealing to potential buyers. Of course, you should never conceal any major flaws your car has since this might seriously tarnish your reputation.

Service Your Car

Of course, before you try to sell your car, service is absolutely necessary. However, seeing how you’re selling in order to make some money and not just for sentimental reasons, you need to find the most cost-effective way to do so. For example, there’s a plethora of repairs you can do yourself, even if you’re not a professional mechanic. Replacing a drive belt, brake pads, a battery and an alternator are just some things you can easily deal with. On the other hand, if you don’t think highly enough of your mechanic to try these “major” repairs, you can always opt for a few simpler things, like replacing fuel and air filters, as well as changing oil.

Naturally, when you decide to sell, any service records should be presented before making the deal. Unfortunately, making your own repairs can make things a bit more difficult. Still, there’s nothing preventing you from listing things you repaired on your own.

Check Out Your Options

In the end, it’s true that the easiest way to sell your car may be through the internet, but this doesn’t mean it is the most lucrative option. Most people like to see the vehicle in person before opting to buy. A car that has undergone all the above-listed repairs might even get a much better price than you initially hoped to reach. Just make sure you get a trusted company for towing in Sydney so that your car gets transported safely to its destination.

Nothing is impossible, even selling your old car for a decent amount of money. Nonetheless, achieving this will take a bit of financial investment and no small amount of effort on your side. Still, there are some things money can’t buy. Just knowing that your favorite vehicle hasn’t failed you even after growing old and completely decaying can be quite invaluable. By using the money gained this way to buy a new car, you can rightfully regard it as your old car’s spiritual successor.
