POTENTIAL DOG WAGON FOR PARENTAL UNIT: SKODA CONTENT
Previous | 1 | Next

Gentlemen, (and ladies - where are you?)

I have been offered a Skoda Octavia VRS estate, 1998, 75,000 miles, fully serviced, body work in great condition and it has been chipped with a mild remap - so not explosive by any means, but will get up and down a roman road without going backwards.

I don't know much about these but it seems perfect as a run around for the farm, parental unit and the bloody big black dog that has appeared in my absence - any tips of what to check/look out for/walk away from?

Its the 1.8T innit, coil packs and suspension bushes off top of my head, otherwise its a pretty solid motor IIRC?

Tempted by one myself before the EP3 came up cheap..

Yes mate - 1.8T

If all is well with the car Bunts and it's well priced, why not? Very nice car for the prices they currently sit at IMO.

Stolen Orions on fire off the hard shoulder of the M8. I watched neds litter in the dark near the Tennents shop. All those... moments... will be lost in time, like [coughs] tears... in... rain. Time... to die...

So long as the cat is ok (dodgy coil packs can kill them), it should be fine.

Cheers all - I made an error - it is an 03 Reg, so a bit newer and just under 80,000 on the clock.

Going to have a check next week but it sounds like it could be a great farm car for Mum. (The Scooby is getting on a bit to be honest and this new dog is bloody huge - so a proper dog area is required)

Will check on the bits mentioned - cheers dudes! 8)

I ran an 04 vRS estate for a couple of years. Good cars. But then I've just ordered my 3rd so I guess I would say that! :)

VAG have a recall on the coil packs. If they haven't been replaced dealer will do all four for gratis. Dump valve is another common problem as are the MAF. Both cheap fixes tho.
