Hi guys, New here, looking for advice. I looking to spend £5,000 on a weekend toy. It's got to be a drivers car....but it doesn't have to be extreme, I won't always be cracking on. Just looking for some suggestions I may have over looked or something outside of the box. Cheers,

Boxster s, 944 s2/turbo, mk3 mr2 or e36 m3. The rest are too sensible for "toy" status.

Yeah, Z3s are great... 968s are rubbish though.

Yeah, Z3s are great... 968s are rubbish though.
To be more precise, there's only one good Z3 and that's the hunchback, sorry hatchback, sorry M Coupe, but they're going for rather more than £5k I believe. 968 is a very good choice.

I sold (both of) my E36 M3s because they were too sensible ! Best condition Boxtser you can find in budget would be my choice here, as long as you can reconcile yourself to the potential for occasional big bills. Ask Jobbo

I don't think you'll get a Mk1 Elise for £5k. You might get a VX220 (non-turbo) tho.

As standard they're not special enough for a weekend car, but for £5k you could have a stripped out, coilovered, carbon airboxed car which would be pretty rapid and great fun.

That looks properly nice. Especially with the rear spoiler removed.
