FUNNY PASSENGER REACTIONS...
Previous | 123 | Next

One of my mates expressed an interest in seeing the Exige, so I went to pick him up yesterday. Obviously I opened it up a bit to show him what it can do. Nothing wild, just normal second gear acceleration in a straight line. He actually screamed in genuine terror. I mean, sure, it's quite fast, but it's not that fast!

I had to drive like a grandad for the rest of the journey, although I did do it once more... same result. I wish I'd have filmed it, it was worse than that guy giving his mum a lift in the 1000bhp Gallardo.

Anyone else had funny passenger reactions?

When I had my first Impreza, I took my Dad out in it. After flooring it in 2nd, my Dad just said "Alright, I give up!".

I took my uncle out in my GTR and he was pretty calm until I demonstrated that it could still pull very hard in 4th, at which point he just went "fùcking Jesus!"

She's built like a steakhouse but she handles like a bistro.

Yeah I gave a colleague a lift from Canary Wharf to Haywards Heath on Friday night, and at one point gave the S6 about 2/3 throttle in 3rd - big "whoooaahh!" moment from the left hand side.

And then there's the "Scott Mac incident" in my Sport 190.:lol:

Not quite a passenger moment, but I sent my FiL out in my Chimaera one time. He was back within a few minutes looking slightly pale and saying "it's a bit faster than my MX5..." :)

First time I gave my mum a lift in the 130. Shes just chatting as we come out of town and I accelerate quite hard coming out of the 30. Complete silence from the passenger seat until I stop accelerating to which theres a comment of "I can see why you bought this now" Don't think she was terribly impressed so I didn't do it again.

A hitchhicker asked me whether I was a rally driver
That was about 20 years ago  on a small road in Spain with my Citroen XM V6, I think the fact that it could be driven relatively fast (it was very well balanced and being a late '80s car it was also pretty light compared to nowadays cars) was really the shock as it was the sort of car assumed to be always driven very slowly by old people.

After the first '8 I test drove slewed lazily sideways in a straight line due to a combo of camber, wet road, worn rears, about 75% throttle and 40mph; my wife declared it to be "fundamentally dangerous". This was all the encouragement I needed.

I used to get the faux brake pedal stamping from passengers but I don't generally drive hard enough to scare passengers

Most times on a rally when the car goes light over a crest and into a bend with a tree at the apex. My co-driver who hates religion has been known to do the spectacles, testicles wallet and watch dance

I seem to recall Quentin Wilson saying that there were only 7 sold in the UK!

Pilouil lives in Paris.

I knew he's not based here hence me saying the UK. Even more unusual to get a petrol Citroen in France!

Had a person screaming in the Mito so had to back off at 160mph.

How about not having a sig at all?

Test drove an Escort Cosworth in my younger days, the salesman was green when we got back and commented that "I knew they were fast but not that fast!"

Laughter when they see the car.

Apparently so. When he got out he said "Thanks for taking me in your Lotus, I never want to go in it again." :D
