This is one franchise I avoid like the plague as it's unbelievable tat! Each car seems to be fitted with 73 forward gears and a hyperspace button. Utter guff.

Did I see a mk1 Escort? Probably watch it when it's on ITV4 in about five years.

Very good - also as an ubergeek it really p1sses me off seeing, for example, the speedo from a non-M 5-series in whichever film had the M5 in it. How difficult would it be to get it right? I remember getting a little tickle of joy at the 2JZ-GTE in the Supra being correctly identified, it ain't difficult!

i remember reading that the actual car was a 525i with "M" exterior kit - it was the one painted in orange, right?

I enjoy them for the gurls and entertainment value.

Thought wasn't it infamously a 2JZ-GE in that scene?

That was nowhere near as bad as the close up of the non-M5 wheel locking up in Ronin, an otherwise detail-soaked car fest. Or the close up of the completely different 750iL wheel "reinflating" its tyre in Tomorrow Never Dies.
It amazes nobody raised their hand during shooting and said "er..." Stealthzilla was on standby for a cameo in FF6 in that central London scene, but ironically got bumped by a metallic purple wrapped one instead.

Like using a pre-facelift and a post-facelift Citroen XM to play the same car

FATF films are great. Mindless romps, though the first 2 are still the best (even though number one is basically a remake of point break with cars).

The first 2 were so awesome that Police would actually get an increase in speeding offences because of them

dodge must be sponsoring them since dodge's are every other car. although the addition of a dodge charger daytona is pretty cool. looking forward to seeing how many chavs in souped up saxos start breaking into birmingham airport and trying to pull the wings off of planes for the lolz

I agree in that many of the things already mentioned are annoying as a car fan, but then these have never been serious movies. Quality wise the previous films are hit and miss, but the move to a more crew/heist style movie for the 5th one was great and I really enjoyed it. This looks to be more of the same that made 5 so much throw away fun, so I'm in.
