I've just downloaded 'FuelLog', so I'm going to see how that goes. Either way it's not something that really requires 'Friends' or social networking surely?

I just cleaned out the A8 prior to p/ex and I found every single fuel receipt stuffed in the armrest. Over 4000 miles of mostly shortly journies, what's the collective best guess at an average? Edit: the cats have been fvcked the whole time i've had it, so that might affect things. Winner gets a micking.

20.6 Incidentally, the diesel A3 is actually less economical than the petrol Astra.
Averaging <40 mpg

Do the mpg comparers like it when someone is proud of their sub-20mpg figures?

Your driving is wrong, it's hard not to get +50mpg out of a Gold/A3 1.6 TDI.

A database of real mpg figures is quite useful for us lot that don't live on an oil field. I wouldn't go there to make new friends mind.

Balls. 10 seconds online can answer any mpg questions, there's no need to set up a virtual community to discuss it. I yearn for the days when the internet was used for a decent purpose, like porn and watching a monkey pee into its mouth or scratch its arse or something.

It is a sort of metallic brown, but I wouldn't call it gold. Besides, I doubt that different colours give different economy figures.
Astra gave 40+, A3's long term mpg figure is saying 35, for the journeys I did yesterday is was 38. However, I have decided now that it is a far superior car to the Astra. Just wish it didn't have these godawful seats and doors so heavily sprung that they threaten to bite your arms off.

18.8 - sorry you lose. Loser.
What was the figure the onboard was showing?
Curious to know if it was as wildly optimistic as ours was.

I used to reset it every fill-up so I can't compare it overall, but generally it over-read a bit. Not too wildly though.

I remember snorting coffee out my nose when I discovered there were detailing fora! MPG fora fall into a similar "life is too short" category. Does it link your current MPG to Twatter and Facepuke?

Yep, given how far EC figures are from the truth these days, it can be handy to look up what some "real world" values are (and not just some owners club forum with retards who only ever put in £10 at a time, or believe the OBC). I moved my tracking over to Fuelly because the iphone app I was using had several problems that the developer couldn't be bothered to fix. They have a good SMS service, just text miles price & litres and it adds it automatically.
