Looking back over what BMW used to be and what Mercedes has evolved into it seems to be a transition of ideals. So 10-15 years ago the BMW wasn't a perfect car it was compromised towards the driver. The Mercedes-Benz was probably just as quick, probably quicker in a straight line, but detached and not as involving as the BMW.
Yet after test driving the Merc and the BMW it seem now that they are the opposite of what they were. The Merc is lairy and makes me giggle like a school kid. The BMW was metalic brown, comfortable, a real rocket of a car, nothing wrong just Meh.
You have to wonder if BMW is getting sponsored by Cialis next year?

Well the ones currently available the F30, F10 BMW look like a VW Passat. The M156 V8 motor for Mercedes is nothing like what they used to have, I would have expected something like that from BMW rather than the Munich Taxi. I drove a CL63 last year and it was a hoot. But driving an M5 it was fast, but felt alot like what an E55 was years ago. Quick but a sleeper.
This is without the silly halo stuff like the SLS
Well the A-class is probably a good example. You could have laughed at the moose dodger years ago, but they have really got their prioritíes in the right place now with the new one and it could be something you would see in a touring car race. But this is a gradual shift in what the Bravarian Motor Works has been moving to. Without mentioning Audi and although they still seem to flash with things every once in a while the overall thing I found when I walked into a dealer last week was that things are quite dull.
