I stacked it on some ice around two and a half weeks ago, and landed on forearm (just next to the elbow). It had a slight bit of bruising on it which soon went, but it still hurts. Not a lot, and not related to movement, only pressure, but it's quite annoying, and lasting a lot longer than these things usually do. What's the craic? Is it just me getting old? It's surprising how often one uses one's elbows to move around, clambering out of the 'xige was particularly unpleasant.

You can bruise a bone which can be sore for weeks. We've got a minor injuries unit which is quiet first thing in the morning and its easy to pop in for an x-ray or stitches, my son ends up there alot . If you've got something like this nearby it wont hurt to x-ray it.

This. Probably a bruised bone and worth checking out. If there is a fracture (such as a hair line one) then its best to get it seen to.

Jesus Christ Mik, you've gotta leave the kids defend themselves.

Thanks for the advice Carlos, there's not many places I hate more than hospitals though so I'll probably give it a couple more weeks before I start worrying about it. As it doesn't hurt under movement and it's just on one side I assume the worst it can be is a chipped bone, which I wasn't concerned about until someone at work was talking about a chipped bone moving and fusing in a joint in a knee or something and requiring an operation to sort. Mik - PM me the details!
