WHAT WILL BE THE NEXT E30 M3?
Previous | 123 | Next

As discussed in another thread, several of us had the opportunity to buy E30 M3s before the price went up but we didn't.

So, what cars are around today for <£10k that will one day rocket to big money in the future?

What's the difference between a BMW and a hedgehog?

Modified R33 GTR.

More to the point - what other boats have been spectacularly missed?

964 RS
Inter( ;) )grales
Any sort of old bloody Escort, it would appear
993s in general - I always had a feeling that would happen, it seemed to be fawned over from launch

e36 m3 roooofl

I bet Tim Nice But Dim is kicking himself :D

Clio V6's ?

MK1 Focus RS, Escort Cosworth.

Ur-Quattro - they got down to a few grand and now a good 20 valve one is £15-20k or more

There's no replacement for displacement

BMW Z3 M Coupe surely.

They've been going down for a while - it was not long ago that I thought £20k would be the bottom of the market, but even non-Tiptronic cars with sensible mileage and decent provenance are available well below that from a dealer: Clicky

Hard to work out what might be next. The Merc 500E is showing some signs of going up; Elises might start to climb if Lotus were to die, and they're already pretty solid anyway. Classic Imprezas, perhaps?

ETA: hopefully the E34 5-series will start to go up massively too ;)

What can be had for £10k which is performing brilliantly in motorsport?

They don't really make homologation specials anymore, do they?

Yes, yes, yes, I'm doing that all the time. You don't have to remind me every 10 seconds.

Megane R26R
M3 CSL
Focus RS's
DC2 Integra type-R
Z4M's
Bit of a longshot, Nissan 350Z.

Stolen Orions on fire off the hard shoulder of the M8. I watched neds litter in the dark near the Tennents shop. All those... moments... will be lost in time, like [coughs] tears... in... rain. Time... to die...

Was looking at future classics in the £10-£20k bracket on Pistonheads yesterday, the main thing that caught my attention was an Alfa SV for £17k.

Entirely pointless

I cant think of many that have truely got to the affordable price that the m3 did, elises have been there but now are on the up, maybe ITRs?

Cheers

Maybe a nice mint 306 Rallye for up to a grand (unlike my modded, abused one).

....as long as they are the rubbish cabriolets

Nothing could ever be as good as an E30 M3, I'm sure Harry is of the same opinion ;)

I'm just very relieved I've not managed to write it off in >70k miles of usage.....it's currently insured for 77% more than I got it for.

Mk1 and Mk2 Golf GTi. They'll be £10k in a few years time.

I sold my AE86 for 3.7k I bet that's worth more now now. Why I don't know, was still an old shed at the end of the day.

Good calls on the ITR and Golfs, I reckon.

I'm single handly driving prices of parts by hoarding everything! Missed the boat on mk1 spares and I have no intention of it happening on mk2s.
