Still loads of small engined Mercs using them. So, not dead and probably more made than ever. ETA: Merc might actually have stopped making the supercharged engines now; they were replaced in the C-class in 2010 with turbos, and I think every other car in the range has been updated since then.

I did wonder about that before posting. I'm guessing that the odd Evora S is still leaving the factory though? I remember reading an old brochure for the G40 and G60 which said that supercharging had no detrimental effect on MPG. I'm clueless on technical stuff but I'm going to assume that's b0llocks though.
