I have just been in rapid fire text exchange with a friend about his car: Him: How do I remove the aerial from the roof ? Me: It screws out from the base Him: But I can't blooming remove the interior light. Tried prizing it out but it doesn't come out. Is there a specific technique Me: So are you trying to change the interior light bulb ? Him: No, I assumed thats how you remove the aerial base ?? Me: Why do you want to remove the aerial base? Typically you have to remove the interior headlining or the cabin light assembly Him: I wanted to put the car through a car wash. But if its this much hassle I'll just jet wash it myself Me: In that case, all you need to do is screw the aerial out from the base, which is meant to stay on the car
So in effect he assumed that the recommended way to go through a car wash was to open up a hole in your roof. This is the same guy who hit a kurb and struggled to convey that he bent a wheel ("You know those round things you drive on?") He also made me look bad after I sold him a car which ran perfectly for a year until (against my advice) he had it serviced by his uncle who fitted a cambelt, screwed up the timing and then unplugged his oil breather pipe, which a Ford franchise garage charged him £200 to replace. Then he spent even more at an independent getting the cambelt done again. This was all after I told him that I would hook him up with fantastic mechanics at trade prices. This guy is a social worker looking after the interests of actual people, not pets. I honestly do not comprehend how so many get by without any sense, let alone common sense.
