...which manufacturers would be in? Looking back there were 4 or 5 main manufacturers, but who would have the nuts and the cash to enter such madness? And another thing, would any actually use a 3.0 N/A over a 2.0L blown motor?

No one, they're all too poor. Maybe Audi with the Quattro redesign. And no, forced induction all the way for rallying.

As Orange said, none of them. Too expensive and completely irrelevant. The current WRCars are awesome things, love them to bits.

Not exactly cheap though are they? That WRC Fester in the Autocar vid was £400k Lots of power doesn't have to be expensive.

It's not just lots of power though. It needs to be light as well. Also it's pretty important that it doesn't explode in a fiery ball of death the first time it hits a tree. It's the combination of light, strong and powerful that costs the money.

Doubt there would be many manufacturers interested in a modern take on Group B apart from Ford and Citroen and possibly one of the VAG brands. The car's would almost certainly be based around a carbon tub with tricky suspension and potty turbo or twin-charged engines making stupid power. Needless to say, it would be hideously expensive but very spectacular.

I thought one of the main caveats of group B was that it did burst into flames when you hit a tree?

They are awesome indeed - but extra 150-200bhp though... the drivers to drive them would be queued up round the block!

The current cars are too bloody expensive as it is - with only 2.5 Manufacturers, with VW joining next year.
It's a nice thought, but the return on investment is poor, and simply not worth it.
The current cars do need more power, 300-350BHP isn't great, especially with the grip and traction they have. Which is one of the reasons Seb Loeb has started his own GT/Sportscar team, and gets to drive 'proper cars' lots of power, RWD, etc
