OK, a challenge for a BH Monday evening. What car offers the best value in terms of cheapness, power and lightness. The formula is: £cost/(bhp/metric tonne) Example: S1 Elise Cost: £8000
BHP: 118bhp
Weight: 725kg Formula: x=£8000/(118bhp/0.725 tonnes) x=£8000/(163) x=49 So that's £49 per bhp/tonne. The lower the number, the better. So what can you come up with that's better?

Panda 100hp: £5k used average, 99bhp, 0.975T x = an Elise S1 matching 49 (assumed to the nearest whole number).

I'm not sure this game works with used cars. To test this theory, I managed to talk the seller of an S1 elise down to £7600. Cost: £7600
BHP: 118bhp
Weight: 725kg x=£7600/(163) So that's £46.63 per bhp/tonne.

There's an e36 m3 Evo saloon at £2500 on autotrader at the moment. 2500/(316/1.5) = £11.87

http://pistonheads.com/sales/3869109.htm Renault 5 Turbo f7pT Cost: £1500
BHP: 240bhp ( conservative )
Weight: 780kg Formula: x=£1500/(240bhp/0.780 tonnes) x=£1500/307.6 x=4.87 So that's £4.87 per bhp/tonne.

Figures in bold if its the high boost spec. I have emailed the owner, and if its as good as I am reading it , I am sooooooo having that five.
