Would anyone know of a van hire company that would do a one way hire from Kilkenny to Marbella?? Other options are hire in Marbella drive up and down but is a pain. The courier/removal co's are charging €2,500 for a couple of sofas and handful of other stuff and would rather make a road trip of it!

They will charge you a fortune! When I needed all my stuff moved to the UK I used www.loadup.co.uk where hauliers can list empty lorries going back and you can list what you need going where. It only took a couple of weeks before I had a guy available to pick up my stuff in Copenhagen and deliver it to my door here. Cost was less than half of what I could do it for myself (and that was returning the van to the UK, not going one-way).

Yup, I'd love to ebay/gumtree the items in Eire and buy them back in Spain... unfortunately not an option. I'll check out loadup thank you very much for that. Was looking forward to a road trip!! Looking like boring cheap flights :-(

I was thinking the same, but when I realised that I would be paying more than double for driving a van with all my stuff down endless boring motorways I reconsidered. Having everything I own + a few family heirlooms in the back of a LWB diseasel Transit (or whatever it would have been) did not make me want to seek out something twisty and fun to drive. With Loadup flexibility helps - I was definitely lucky. The guy I used had to deliver the contents of someone else's house just 10-15 miles from where all my stuff was stored at a time that was convenient for me. The mover was very helpful with, communicating, loading and unloading - so if all else fails I have his details, you never know, he might be up for a trip for you.

Thanks a million for this, we'll see how things play forward over the next couple of days. If there's anyway I can work out a run back via Rioja region and then the major auctions coming up in Monaco it'd be a great trip... better replen the aircon just incase!
