ARE YOU PROUD TO BE DIRTY?

Motorists should see filth on their cars as a "badge of honour", a water company said yesterday as it urged Britons to do less cleaning during the drought.

As my car sits outside looking extremely clean, along with the others in our street, given the two days of almost non-stop rain they were subjected to this week, I found this campaign ironic on several different levels...

Pathetic meedja spin to get everyone on board the water issue. I think they should maybe start asking the water companies why they are still wasting 25%+ of their efforts, as that'd be a bigger overall saving perhaps?

Barry is correct.

You Sir, are rude, arrogant and selfish. And so is your son.

My car is dirty this is not due to a hosepipe ban though.

Are hand car wash places exempt from the ban? Hope so.

Real life with cars

Businesses are exempt. Golf courses, car washes, etc

Formal education will make you a living; self-education will make you a fortune.

I tend to prefer my car being clean and looking like I care about it.

Now fueled by heavy oil...

I've got better things to do than wash my car. Although to be fair I generally have fairly scruffy cars.

Mito-tw4t is, amazingly, correct. Assuming you have an established business that already has a reasonable use for water (window washing, jetwash at a garage etc) then you're in the clear.

Jetwash'd 't Puma last night, no police action that I noticed.

33% of all water is wasted through leaks so it does rather smack of piss taking of the highest order.

Instead of giving the shareholders dividends this year they could maybe spend some money on pipes and sort the main problem.

Although as our climate s getting warmer and wetter (allegedly) why there should actually be a shortage....?

20 months from the last two years had below average rainfall. Doesn't sound wetter to me. I presume that's in the SE only. Doesn't stop them needing to fix leaks. I assume hosepipe bans are just to raise public awareness?? They surely can't actually save a significant amount??
