Much better to have all three lanes travelling at 55mph.

This happened to me a while ago. Everyone else stuck to 60 on a dual carriageway while me and a couple of plod cars left them all behind at a perfectly legal 70. It was like having an (almost) private road.

Seen this happen a few times on my motorway trips. I tend to just roll past at 75-80mph on the clock, never been stopped about it. Pretty sure 90% of the time the coppers have better things to do than stop someone for going slightly over the speed limit and otherwise driving acceptably.

Even worse are the twunts who can't tell it's actually a traffic womble vehicle (black and yellow squares) and slow down and pass that at 60 as well . Carl.

Once, on a drive from Runcorn to York (to view the GTR), I caught up to a Police Ford Explorer doing bang on 70mph just outside Manchester. I sat behind him all the way to Leeds, along with hundreds of other cars. You'd see loads come flying up lane 3 then slam on and tuck in behind me. As he slowed down and took a slip road, I eventually passed him. It was an Armed Response vehicle, driven by 2 blokes in plain clothes and the passenger was asleep with his feet up on the dash

Of course I could but if a police car is sat at 70mph, it's a pretty safe bet that anyone passing them is going to get a ticket.
It's a pretty safe bet that you won't - go past at an indicated 75mph and you'll be fine.

I always go past at the limit + 10% + 3 kph, but i wonder if there is any way (radar) that the plod may have installed on the car that can register my speed on the move, otherwise how could they prove that i'm speeding if i do it while overtaking them?

Don't they time vehicles over a measured distance?

Had just such an event today on the A55 in Wales, caught a bunch of nancies all blocking second lane at 69mph, just because there was a Welsh Dibble in a van doing 65mph..

If your speed reads 70 mph you can sneak past at 75 mph indicated and they won't pull you over! For what? You're probably only doing 72 in reality and they've got better things to be doing than pull you over for 2 mph. Doing 80 would probably get you pulled over, but not necessarily...

Rev is correct. No need to give them an excuse to book you. But I love it when you see a "Horse in transit" van/lorry and every fvcker just fly passed it .

NotoriousREV said... Seeing as I recently got stopped by a copper claiming I was doing 75 in a 60 when I had the cruise control set on 60, I'm not going to give the fuckers any excuse.
How is this in any way relevant - if the police are going at 60 and you drive past at the speed limit of 70 and they stop you, that's totally different and unreasonable, and of course you'd do it again because you weren't doing anything wrong. I've never encountered problems overtaking a police car doing around 70, I just do it slowly with bursts of speed whenever I'm hidden from view behind a truck or hill, for instance, to get out of sight sooner.
