Hi I recently completed my evo magazine collection by picking up some back issues on eBay. While I was collecting them I started an excel spreadsheet listing main features for each issue, it's only an hour or so in and just a skeleton framework at the moment. I was trying to find a feature I remember reading and it took ages looking for it (there was no mention of it on the website). So I had an idea of making a complete feature database and loading it onto Google Docs for public access (with a password which could be published on this forum). I was wondering three things; 1. Has anyone already done one of these and would I be wasting my time? 2. Would there be any copyright issues (it would only list the features against each issue and contain no copy)? A response from someone at evo/Dennis Publishing would be useful. 3. Would anyone be interested in helping out? If only 10 people wanted to help, I could grant them read/write access to the database and we could do just 16 issues each, it would be a doddle. I'm going to do it anyway, but on my own it will take more time so just wanted to garner interest here first. I think it would be a really useful tool for finding old features. Cheers Steve

We keep a full index for reference. Making it available for public consumption is an interesting proposition. If it could aid sales of back issues or there's another compelling commercial or editorial reason to publish it, we could make it available on this site very soon. What do you think? n

Hi Nick That sounds great, setting one up officially on this site would be ideal, if nobody at evo towers can find the time you can send me the data and I can compile it in a database that you could then publish as a web page. It would prove very useful for people buying and selling back issues on eBay, but most importantly for those of us who have most or all of the back issues and we just want to find an article. I've read a few threads on forums recently, pistonheads for one, where people have enquired as to whether a database exists, I think it will prove very popular and would undoubtedly bring in some advertising revenue.

Brilliant idea! I'd love to flick through the database, find back issues which really grab me then order them (if they're still available) through the back issue service. Good plan.

+ 1 I'd like to see that. I've got every issue, so evo may not make much money out of me in that respect, but I have every issue, so it'd be good when I want to find a particular article I want to read again (which happens quite often)

I'd like to be able to access it every now and again - was it you, me and Lemmy who tried to do this about 8/9 years ago? Too much work, IIRC.

Can't remember, to be honest. I probably thought that it'd be too much work too!

I should have proof read what I'd written before posting that one, eh?
