'however, we’d advise any UK deposit-holder who’s been offered a premium for their place in the queue for an RS3 – a car which has apparently been sold out since the winter – to take the money and run'. It's sh1t then

Weird that verdict's so predictable though. A premium badge, top build quality, 5 cylinder turbot, plus AWD, auto gearbox and 5 seat hatch for practicality - and it's thoroughly impossible to recommend.

I'd rather have a 1M or Cayman R.

I wonder if that chap on PH who was very argumentative about the narrower rear tyres would be quite so keen to discuss how finely Audi have tuned the RS3 now?

Indeed, both make way better small estates....
That's the RS3s ace card though, it's practical whereas it's opposition aren't. Shame it's rubbish though.

It's no more practical than an LFR.

I'm trying to think what the opposition is. Golf R 5-door? It's not 4.6s to 60, but it's still pretty nippy.

That's 40k before you add options like a steering wheel, carpets, and other non-essential stuff.

Probably it's closest yeah. It's more niche marketing though, maybe they knew it wouldn't compete with the 1M so they put the package together in a "sportback" shell to give it it's own space.

If you have a hand full of crap and an ace in it you play Ace High, right? That's the RS3, that is.

Didn't they make it Sportback only because they reckoned a more racy 3-door would tread on the toes of the TTRS?

Leon FR was the first 5 door hot hatch I thought of, before I remembered that they also do a 5dr Golf GTI, right up to the R.
