Seeing as my malware thing freaks out when I try to re-open the original thread I figured I'd start a new one, mainly as I've just spotted this badboy on the Lego site:
V8 Supercar
£99.99! But I get 30% discount so it's still tempting...
The ultimate LEGO® Technic building challenge!
This cool supercar is full of working features and functions, just like the real thing! Use the built-in LEGO® Power Functions to open the scissor doors, extend the rear spoiler and pop the hood to reveal the realistic V8 engine! Features gear wheel steering, realistic suspension and moving pistons. Rebuild into a Hot Rod for even more of a challenge!
Rebuild into a cool Hot Rod

Features realistic details: gear wheel steering, realistic suspension and moving pistons
Open the scissor doors!
Extend the rear spoiler!
Pop the hood!

+1 I sometimes dust it off just to admire the intricacies of that mini V10 and the rear diff and wishbones

I can see why - there's no licensing fee for making it a Ferrari copy, and it doesn't appear to be as functional as the last proper Supercar, 8448.

Isn't this one still the "ultimate"?
IIRC it had independent suspension, 3 speed gearbox, piston motor and steering to the wheel? Edit: some even look like they have 4WS

At the time it was - 4wd, 4ws and 4-wheel independent suspension, 4-sp gearbox with dog clutches and the V8. But the more modern Technic beams without studs and some really useful smaller components (springs, gears) meant that 8448 despite having only rwd felt like a far more modern, well-engineered vehicle. 5-sp+reverse on the gearbox wowed me. Forgot to mention that the main steering wheel on the new Supercar is false - it doesn't steer the car! But it does have motorized bits (though they appear to be the doors and spoiler, very weird).

Agh, no idea how much this is going to be (probably more than £100 looking at the size and functionality) but soon to be available will be the Lego Unimog: Clicky. Want

Yep everything since is made out of special new not proper lego parts.

Erm... the suspension, dog clutches etc on that one are pretty specific. Go back to 8865 if you want proper Lego.
