I'd say LotR, even though it's an old story. I can't stand Harry Potter, I know millions of people love it, I dunno the first one was so-so, then it became dull.

The first 3 Potters were OK, but after the Wizard Cup one it went crap. Same with the books.
LOTR are excellent films. Was Star Wars particularly well received when it launched? It's just a Western in space.
The key to Star Wars was how well the film and merchandise were marketed to kids. I can't think of a modern equivalent.
Toy Story?

No, I don't agree with that. The key to Star Wars was the characterisation - the fact it was set in space just coincided with the public mentality at the time (space race, etc). Anyway this is boring now. I'm going to go back to not giving a crap about other people's opinions.

Indeed, as i said efore - the films/stories with longevity are the ones with thoroughly thought out back stories. Anyone can hastily chuck some "history" together once the film has grossed a few billion and it's suddenly worth making a sequel, but people will see through it.

I watched Starwars III while on holiday because I hadn't seen it since the cinema, but once I'd got a taste I had to watch IV, V and VI. I enjoyed them all, and not just for nostalgic reasons, they're great fun to watch. I enjoyed Avatar in the cinema, but I can't imagine myself being bothered about watching it again. I just found the plot a bit weak, and didn't really like any of the characters. As a Starwars fan David, I can't believe you're even talking about them in the same context.

Four Lions "Four Lions tells the story of a group of British jihadists who push their abstract dreams of glory to the breaking point. As the wheels fly off, and their competing ideologies clash, what emerges is an emotionally engaging (and entirely plausible) farce. In a storm of razor-sharp verbal jousting and large-scale set pieces, Four Lions is a comic tour de force; it shows that-while terrorism is about ideology-it can also be about idiots." I'm a big Chris Morris fan (Brasseye/Day Today/Nathan Barley) so I'm going to be totally biased and say that Four Lions was brilliant. I was laughing my head off all the way through but the satire is also very cutting - there is a pretty powerful message in here about how religion can be twisted, western reactions to such groups and how easy it would be to blow a lot of people up. Powerful, funny and brilliant out of ten. Some of the quotes in it are just epic win. (sorry, Internet speak innit)

PS - if it's the trailer I've seen it gives a bit too much away IMO. Agreed though. Really good film.

I too enjoyed 4 lions. A good 7 out of 10 film Knight & Day Utter utter utter sh1t. Even the CGI is pants. Even the presence of Miss Diaz in a bikini doesn't make it worth watching. Re-watch True Lies instead. It's much better. 1, and I'm being generous here, out of 10

Never let the wife choose if you know it's going to be a crap choice. Unless you're getting a kickback from it.

The Ghost (Writer?)
I'd have let him off tupping a 15 yr old if it wasn't for this.
1/10 Don't bother.

True Lies is an absolute classic. Love that film and have always wanted a Harrier since watching it.
