GT5 (NOW WITH ADDED SPEC 2.0)

Well i'm glad they included hybrids, car washing, and the output of video to PSPs. And mostly GT4 car models.

FFS.

If this game ever launches it's going to stink up bad.
The whole point of GT was that you could rag your shopping car round with a load of mods, and it was fun. GT2 was the same but better.
GT3 to date have been dull and rubbish.

Almost, but I think they got progressively worse after GT1.

you are right. GT1 was the game that made me go out and buy a ps1, up until that point i was 100% happy with my sega saturn and sega rally.

gt1 had a perfect mix of fun and simulation, you could tweek settings to alter how the cars handled but you didnt need a degree in motorsport engineering to play around. It was the only game of the seies where you could start with a fairly normal road car, spend silly money, do the 'racing modification' and turn it into a full on motorsport version. at one stage i went through and collected an r32 gtr from every year to turn into the calsonic racecars just to see what the differences were

the only downside of gt1 was the lack of real tracks, and a very japanese biased car range.

GT2 had far more cars, from more countries, and a wider range of tracks, yet somehow it wasnt quite the same. the handling seemed to have been tweeked for no real reason and the game pushed you towards the true racecars, buying a dtm car rather than being able to turn your saloon into a wtc spec car and be competetive.

later versions proved to be more of the same and never quite recaptured the magic depite far prettier graphics, more cars, more tracks, more challenges to work through etc.

i don't own either of the current generation consoles, but if i was to buy one it would almost certainly be an xbox360 with whatever the newest forza game is.

Too many old sheds.

You = Me.

GT1 towers over the rest of the series. And for some reason, the fact that it was only Japanese cars and tracks made it feel all the more cool, like you were really dipping into the culture. The write-ups were excellent as well.

Harry and JL are correct - I said the same even before GT3 came out.

My fist Gran Turismo was 3 because I didn't have a PS1.
Now that the PS3 can play PS1 games I think it might be time to buy an old GT1.

Entirely pointless

GT1 very nearly stopped me and all my mates passing our last set of exams in first year at uni.
Fortunately as they were only first year exams all was well.

I quite liked GT3 on the PS2 tbh.

There should be a lot of GT news over the next month or so, mainly at E3 on June 15th.

They've shown a new Nurburgring demo at this weekends 24 hour race, which includes the GP-Strecke and combined track (which has spectators) as well as the Nordschleife which we've seen before.

It was announced recently that it was "90%" complete. Going by the current timeframe, its still another 12months away ;)

Technomotive - Games, Cars, Stuff

Screenshots look good...... hmmmmm may have to invest in a PS3... in 12 months' time!

Kintegra y0!

GT1 was indeed the best.

But tbh I'm more excited about the new Test Drive - what Turn10 do next (apparently they have been given PGR to sort out) and playing old school Mario Kart.

I remember getting my appraisal copy of GT1, on a gold disc  I lost every evening for the next two months to that game. Shame the later versions haven't been worthy the same attention.

GT1 was a legendary game. GT2 was even more legendary, loved it. Especially the mental Saleen Mustang race car thing and Venturi GT car. GT3 was a load of crap quite frankly. GT4 was'nt too bad but it was more a GT3.5 with a LOT more cars and tracks. GT5 is a step in the right direction, weather, day/night effects, damage and most importantly a big grid of cars.

I hope they have some of the odd ball stuff like the Jay Leno car. I loved the obscure LMP's as well, especially the Pescarolo's and group C cars. They were the saving grace along with Circuit de la sarthe for me when it came to GT4. 16 car enduro at Le Mans with LMP and GT cars on GT5 with weather and day and night effects is going to be seriously awesome. 8)

When is GT5 slated to come out? September/October time?

MI5 have confirmed he had committed suicide using the traditional Russian method: He shot himself 3 times in the head then hid the gun.

I liked GT2 for its extra tracks and a few quirky extra vehicles... it didn't really move the game on like the first though.

GT1 is still the best for me, just seemed that little bit more challenging than the rest.

I hate the fact that on the later ones the driver aids were always on unless you switched them off. They should only be on cars that have them in real life IMO.

Any news on whether they're going to sell the Collector's Edition over here that has been announced in the US?

<fanboy> I want my GT5-liveried black GT-R SpecV model now, now, NOW! </fanboy>

Real life with cars

This bugs me. And auto boxes on cars which were only manual (and vice versa). And when they get the number of gears wrong.

I played GT1, but I'm too young to remember it properly. I only remember having a Nissan Skyline for a great majority of it.

Again GT2 I cannot really remember, the only lasting memory was that I gamed on it for so long with my friend that it killed my Playstation and caused a power cut.

GT3 was awful. GT4 I liked quite a lot since that came out around the age where I started to get really interested in cars so I enjoyed it. Plus it had incredible graphics.

Just incase anyone didn't see the other GT5 thread in the general forum...

http://uk.playstation.com/ps3/news/articles/detail/item285382/Talking-games-with-Shuhei-Yoshida/

Gran Turismo 5 will offer gamers an experience more rich, more in-depth and more exciting than they might expect - even from a series as closely identified with innovation and invention as Gran Turismo. Not only will Gran Turismo 5 deliver an even more comprehensive set of cars and courses than gamers saw with previous iterations, it will also feature new game-enhacing graphical effects such as damage, night racing and weather.

These innovations are twinned with the option to join millions of like-minded individuals globally within the Gran Turismo community and to find a driving experience to suit, whether that is taking on the Top Gear test track, chucking cars around stunt arenas, go-karting, creating and sharing your own track or intense head-to-head races. Who, where and what to drive is completely down to the individual.

This time around Gran Turismo is likely not just to be the definitive driving experience but a definitive gaming experience full stop.

I'm skeptical of the 'stunt arena,' and the track creator could easily turn out to be a disaster, but the go-karting should be fun.
