Pre cat lambda sensor has thrown a CEL. Have a replacement waiting to go in, I'll fit in on the weekend if it ever stops raining. Seems to be making absolutely no difference at all which is bizarre.

Are you sure it's not just the pre-heater circuit ?

Not according to the code but it could be. New sensor will sort it either way. They're apparently very prone to failure on the S2k although that could be standard internet scaremongering and this could just be one of those things.

Well the weather cleared yesterday and I had some fun giving my colleagues a few p-rides around a nice little (albeit Police heavy) test route I have near work. Took them to the pub one by one. Car felt great. Gratuitous pics when dropping it back at the garage (FAO Beany... PWNED. ):

Thanks chaps. When I was looking I fancied fitting the later model spoiler, but now I really love that one. It makes me smile to see it curving down at the end through my wing mirror. How does one make a video and drive at the same time mik? I don't have any accomplices and I wouldn't want to leave a camera on its own round here!

_Mick_N said... Lol, why such a strong reaction Dave when did you drive one by the way ? Some of the mags praise the handling and as someone who has driven many miles in one and it's competitors in think it's pretty good, oh and I agree about some ergonomic problems, but that wasnt down to me.
Avis gave me one to drive to the airport. It had MG.co.uk stickers over it so i'm guessing there is some marketing going on. The handbrake traps your finger when you release it, the over the shoulder visibility was worse than a MK5 Astra 3 door, which I didn't think was possible. The controls are horrible, no tactility at all and the materials are a joke, it's all perceived quality with no solidity behind it. The handling is very lifeless, not rolling a lot when tucking into a roundabout is not handling imo, it's grip and this told you by fax when the grip was going and at that point turned into an un-coordinated mess. It's not a terrible car by any means but really, this is what they expect to battle with MOndeos, Astras and Focus rivals? They don't have a hope apart from beardy MG lovers who want something new to go down to their static caravan in Bognor. Dave!

Ordered my rocker cover gasket and engine cover bolts from Ford yesterday. Dropped in today and found out they'd closed the parts desk ten minutes before I arrived - BAH. No rocker cover gasket swop for me today.

1. Go somewhere that you can drive an Exige properly - which by definition must be away from theiving hands. 2. Set up camera 3. Do the do. 4. Download THIS and chop out the bits of you walking to/from the camera and turning round etc 5. Upload to youchoob 6. Rejoice in your brilliance

The Ka is back to stationary duty outside my uni house. I literally don't need to move it at all for the next few weeks, which it makes my Dad's teeth itch - he maintains a car must be given a 'good run' at least once a week to look after it. Even more so lately as our Civic's battery went on the blink and the entire car would be dead if it wasn't ran every day. What's the longest people here dare leave their cars in-between uses, without the car complaining? I can't afford the petrol to just go for a razz, not that there's any decent roads near here either. Also, drove a friend's new Polo last night - the current gen. Felt like it was hewn out of Germanic granite compared to the Fisher Price Ka, but it was the first time I've driven something with reverse up and to the left of 1st, rather than down and opposite 5th. The lever action was really springy, and it had a habit of jumping to the gate for 3rd when coming out of R, so parking was irritating. Anyone else with a VAG motor find this?

My car is parked unused for months on end over the winter and doesn't seem to suffer any ill effects. I just make sure the handbrake is off so the pads don't seize onto the discs.

My friends 09 1.4 polo often pops out of gear when reversing. I thought it was just him . Either way it doesnt say much for supposedly legendary VAG build quality
