I keep musing over Christopher Wards. Great value for automatic watches.

Either C11 or C8.

I'd really like a Speedmaster "Moonwatch"

Great value? Maybe once, but they don't hold their value like the big Swiss names yet they've been hiking prices quite a bit. Plus everything they make seems to be a pastiche or homage, and I don't like the logo.

If you want great value automatic watches you've got to look to Japan: Seiko, Orient, Citizen (to a lesser extent). If they're a bit mass market for your tastes, then Tissot or Hamilton would appeal over a Chr. Ward.

Wow was I impressed

I do like that, bit pricey though.

Couldn't have put it better. If you wanted something a little different they were once a decent buy, especially in the regular sales that they used to have.

I'm saving for a bell and ross. Love the "spitfieness" about them.

Next time I fly out of Heathrow, I'm getting this as my. 40th present...

That is gopping. Plus the crown looks as if it would catch on everything.

My Seamaster has been flawless in the years that I've had it. I'd imagine that the Speedmaster would be the same. The one that pug linked to is rather nice to boot (although I'm not sure I could bring myself to spend that much on one).

Scotland, Wales, Ireland and Cornwall really are different countries

Agreed. I think it is because I have a fascination with ww2

I've got one of these en route from Singapore currently:

£96 delivered :D Now that's a good value automatic. Proper diver's watch with screw down crowns, unlike the Seiko 5s at that sort of price, but a bit different to the ubiquitous Monster or SKX007.

I have an authentic Chinese version of this watch that I bought in 2006. Its Chinese swiss movement hasn't missed a beat in all that time and it looks fab. The best £35 watch ever

All about personal preference really, eh??;)

I have a 1962 Seamaster and this is the closest in terms of style in the modern range. I love my 62 one but it's tll delicate for everyday use.

I've got a Seamaster Aqua Terra with a similar dial but in the dark grey teak finish. They always look better in the flesh than in the weird photos that Omega produce.

I've a Heuer Monaco and every time i think to get something new i just can not find anything more appealing.

Fried is really into the C ward watches, 4 to date i think, he says they are fantastic.
